Ecommerce website and CMS development

Melrose is a leading international jeweller specialising in Rolex watches and diamond rings. They approached Icreon for three new ecommerce websites for their customers in the UK, USA and Canada, and a content management system that would manage all three portals from one place.

Project requirements

Due to a number of issues with Melrose’s existing ecommerce sites (including a reliance on out-dated technology), they required a complete overhaul. It was vital for Melrose not to lose any business while this development work took place so we maintained their existing sites in parallel with the new ones until the solution was fully implemented.

Our solution

Exploiting PHP to the full, our CMS and ecommerce developers created:

• New features such as electronic signatures and multiple payment gateways
• Improvements to user experience and data security
• Unique codes for each customer to quote when ordering by telephone
• The integration of stock control and inventory management into the website administration system
• The integration of key features from Melrose’s customer relationship management (CRM) system, such as lead management, into the ecommerce sites.

As a result of this, in 2010 Melrose’s new ecommerce websites led to a 75% increase in their sales compared to the year before – a total of £7 million.
