Magento Customisation
Background
Our client an Australia based IT company, wanted a solution that would allow their end-client to promote the work of local artisans via means of an online storefront. The requirements were such that could be easily met by customising an off-the-shelf product. In this instance we customised the Magento open source e-commerce software to deliver the solution.
Requirements
The requirement was for an online solution that would provide artisans with a platform to showcase and retail their work, including hand printed fabric, apparel and other gift items, to a global audience. Facilities to create product catalogues, publish and update website content, view orders, track website performance were required.
What We Did
Icreon customised Magento, an open source e-commerce software package based on the PHP Zend framework.
Through the website, customers can browse the available catalogues (created and managed by the solution administrators) and purchase desired products online.
- An order can be shipped to multiple addresses
- Customers can track the status of their orders online
- Option to re-order products have also been provided
- Products can be tagged by customers, allowing for each search on other similarly tagged items
- Features to compare multiple products and also bookmark products to wish-lists have been provided
The Magento template designs have been tailored to the client’s requirements.
The website can be managed and administered through the web based administration panel available with Magento. Through this module, the administrators can view and process all orders, generate invoices, create and manage product catalogues, publish news and other content to the website. The solution also enables the administrator to track website activity to determine the best selling products, top search terms, most view products. A variety of reports (sales, new customer registrations, abandoned carts etc) can be generated allowing the administrators to monitor the performance of the storefront.
