Software and SMS development
Imperial College London was looking for a development team that could complete a project – involving survey software development, SMS distribution and web-based data collection – that had been started by another supplier.

Project requirements
Imperial College had received time-limited funding for a study into the effects of mobile phones on health. The study was to be based on data collected through a survey website to which people would be directed from an SMS text message. The project had to be completed by a certain deadline for the funding to be released and this deadline was tight. The survey was still to be designed, built, tested and implemented and the software behind it (which had been written by another supplier who was no longer involved in the project) had not worked since being moved onto a new server. Once the software was fixed, its functionality also needed to be upgraded.
Our solution
Icreon sent an experienced development consultant to establish exactly what was wrong with the software, to fix the problem and get the survey designed, built, tested and launched on time. Our consultant was able to do all this and add the additional features the software required – including data encryption to protect any personal health information provided by the survey’s respondents – within the required deadline. Icreon then provided ongoing support for the duration of the study.
